Foundry Square Condominiums
Foundry Square in downtown Newburyport was developed in partnership with Trinity Financial and the City of Newburyport. The project sought to reclaim an underutilized urban brownfield and replace it with an attractive affordable neighborhood that would fit into the context of the historic city. The design sought to maintain the character of the original Albert Russell & Sons Foundry building, as well as introduce an updated version of the federal architectural style common to Newburyport neighborhoods. The development consisted of 20 condominiums centered around a landscaped courtyard, with 13 of the units available to first time home buyers with a median income below 80% of the area median income. The remaining 7 units were sold at market rate. Brian Hromadka, AIA served as project manager during the construction phase of this project while working with Woodman Associates Architects of Newburyport, MA. The project was completed in 2006.
